    Who's Grace Slick Now?

Grace_slick One of the great things about playing The 1966 Game is that you can find game pieces everywhere, even in unexpected places.

Here's one ripped from the headlines.

    Remember Grace Slick?

Grace was the Earth Mother of the hippie drug culture, the frontwoman for the Jefferson Airplane, a shining symbol of the excess which the 1960s represented. She wasn't a Johnson supporter, wasn't even political, but she was out there, fearless in a sort of stoned addled way. (Some of her music from that era even holds up, although none of her later stuff does.)

Grace Slick scared the straights half to death -- she scared them half to Nixon.

    So who's Grace Slick now?

    Coulterweb This game is fun.

Understand that in The 1966 Game left is right, and right is left. After nearly 40 years in power it is natural that the right would create excess -- and excess piled on top of the excess.

    Thus, Ann Coulter.

Hard to see Coulter as the uber-hippie? Shouldn't be. Little Ben Domenechs are getting off on Coulter's sound just like their stoned uncles got off on Slick. And mainstream scolds like Keith Olbermann are now condeming Coulter, just as their predecessors once dumped on the hippies.

    It's fun. It fits.

And it defangs Coulter's hate quite nicely, don'cha think?

So join us next time we play The 1966 Game.
