Don't Be Evil is the Google motto.
But if you hire evil, aren't you evil yourself?
Well, Roll Call magazine reports that Google has, indeed, hired evil.
It's a company called DCI, run by a Republican operative named Tom Synhorst. They specialize in Astroturf and dirty tricks.

Now it's possible Google did this for defensive reasons. Write a check to Evil, keep them out of the opposition's hands. (You don't think Verizon or AT&T would love to have these guys on their side?) But they're Evil, people. What is to stop them from working for those guys anyway? Are you going to write their names specifically into the contract? Well, they'll work for one of those company's existing Astroturf guys. They're evil, dammit.
Whoever did this at Google deserves to be fired. I don't even care if it's Vint Cerf.
